The Touring Outlaw Modified Series (TOMS) points battle for the 2025 championship has officially concluded.
Shane Hartline from Ivanhoe, Texas, is the official series Champion with a total of 1,256 points. Dean Abbey, (Boyd, Texas) finished 51 points behind Hartline in second place with 1,205 points.
Jason Ingalls (Longview, Texas) finished the 2025 season with 1,133 points and 123 points behind Hartline for third place overall, while Jake Huckaby (Texarkana, Texas) was fourth overall with 1,047 points (-209 from Hartline;) and Chase Hatton (De Berry, Texas) rounded out the top five with 1,019 points and 237 points away from Hartline.

The 2025 season was the first full season Hartline ran with the TOMS, and he had a dominant first season, picking up a series-leading four wins, 10 top 5’s and 13 top 10’s in 14 feature races.
Hartline had raced with the series prior to 2025, mostly at Grayson County Speedway, Southern Oklahoma Speedway and Hunt County Speedway, with one win at SOS in 2021.
“This year was one of the most challenging years that I have attempted in my racing career,” Hartline said. “I have raced very local up to this year. This winter my team and I set a goal to run for the TOMS Championship.
“I have won a few track championships in my racing career, but never attempted a touring series,” he said. “With the kind of talent that shows up to the TOMS shows, I didn’t really know what to expect, but I felt like we could be a player at most of the tracks.”
Having a few track championships under his belt, he felt a significant level accomplishment by winning the TOMS championship in his first full year of competition.
“This is the biggest accomplishment in my racing career so far,” Hartline said. “To race with the caliber of guys in this series says a lot about North Texas modified racing as a whole.”
Following a second-place finish in the season opener at Southern Oklahoma Speedway on March 21, Hartline followed that up with a third-place finish and the points lead the following night.
The consistency each night was evident throughout the season as Hartline led the points for the remainder of the season.
“Always bringing a well-prepared car, keeping my nose clean and being consistent,” Hartline said about the keys to success and not losing the points lead.

Second place points finisher Abbey was hot on Hartline’s trail for most of the season and closed Hartline’s points lead to four points after the race at Abilene Speedway on July 19.
“I had only raced Abilene once before and finished fourth this year,” Hartline said. “This was one of my wild card races in the points battle since I hadn’t been there much and salvaged a decent finish.”
A mental reset turned out to be a key turning point in the season after the Abilene race for Hartline.
“This is where my wife and I had a few nights to talk about the season and get a new mindset,” he said. “We decided not to look at the points anymore and just go race and have fun. Well, we definitely had fun after that.”
Hartline took advantage of a test session after the Abilene race and that is where he said he was able to fix some things.
“Rocket had a test and tune, and we went to play with the car and found a few things and fixed a few problems we had been fighting,” he said.
Hartline went on to win back-to-back races in the month of August, including the 11th Annual Hella Shrine Classic at Hunt County Speedway.
“The Hella Shrine was a good one for me,” Hartline said. “I won the heat, dash and the feature. It’s pretty cool to win one of the crown jewels of the TOMS series.”
Hartline’s only finish of the season that was not in the top 10 came at Kennedale Speedway Park.
“Kennedale is a track I have only raced one time at, also, so we were just looking to get as best a finish as we could,” Hartline said. “I finally found how to race it about the last three or four laps and finished 11th.”
Hartline picked up his fourth win of the season at Rocket Raceway Park at the Bryan Mize Memorial on a racing surface that had some “character” spots to it.
“The Bryan Mize race looked like weather would win night two, so it was all up to Friday night,” he said. “The track was ‘cowboys up’ with a not ideal track surface, but we hung in there and took advantage of a few mistakes and was able to win that one too. I will remember not wanting to get out of the car because I was worn out.”
Although it may have been Hartline’s first full season with the TOMS series, the success and consistency it took to win the championship will be talked about for years to come.
Sponsors, Family and Crew
Hartline had the following to say regarding his family and crew:
I would like to thank my wife, Chanda, for always supporting me in this adventure and allowing me to spend the hours in the shop that it takes to race; Jasen Loftice for everything that he has done for my racing career … I couldn’t do this without him; and, Don Tomlinson for all the hours in the shop and at the race track.
